Abstract
The paravertebral space is thought to be continuous with the epidural space raising concern for inadvertent spread of medication 1,2 or dislodgment of the paravertebral catheter into the epidural space, which has been observed in cadavers 3. In clinical practice, misplacement of the paravertebral catheter is difficult to conclusively confirm. In infants, the diminished ossification of the immature spine offers the unique opportunity to visualize potential epidural medication spread under ultrasound guidance.
