CSF leak after coccyx fracture

spinee56999-fig-0001.sml

A 30 year-old man fell from his cabin bed, while asleep aboard an overnight bus suffering a direct impact injury to his coccygeal area. Initial symptoms included peri-anal and right buttock pain, nausea and persistent headache, which ceased after one week. There was significant bruising centrally with a large fluctuant swelling in the right buttock. The patient suffered sensory disturbance at the peroneal area with weak right gluteal muscles, causing a limp and impaired sitting, which persisted for over eight weeks.
