Celiac disease presented with recurrent invagination in a child: case report

Celiac Disease (CD) is gluten-sensitive, autoimmune chronic enteropathy. Diarrhea, abdominal distention, vomiting and failure to thrive are the classical symptoms of celiac disease. "Atypical" celiac disease can present with uncommon gastrointestinal findings, such as abdominal pain, constipation and non gastrointestinal manifestations. Here we report child with celiac disease presenting with recurrent small bowel intussusception. Delayed short bowel transit time and reduced motility could be responsible for clinical symptoms, which resolved after gluten free diet. Celiac disease should be kept in mind in children with symptoms of small bowel intususception or pseudoobstruction without underlying cause.
