Animal studies have shown that steroid sex hormones such as estrogen may be helpful in the regulation of several pathophysiologic stages that are involved in wound healing. This study therefore investigated the effects of topical estradiol on wound healing and hemato-biochemical changes in West African dwarf (WAD) goats. Ten WAD goats were used for the study randomly divide into two equal groups of five goats each; the first group served as the control while the second group were treated topically with estrogen. Healing process was compared between the two groups, haematology and serum biochemistry were carried out at each phases of the healing process.
